1. Keep in touch.
2. Tell others what they have been doing.
3. Spread what they are doing farther.
I have a pair of shoelaces that i send to other missionaries. Anyone in that family puts the shoelaces in their shoes, hair or around their wrist. After their month is up they send the shoelaces to the other family and write where the shoelaces have been and what they have done on this blog. This way people can read what missionaries are doing and even get involved in their own way.
